Colorado officially named rhodochrosite as its state mineral in 2002. Large specimens have been found in the Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado. This photo is of one of the largest rhodochrosite crystals ever discovered, named "The Alma Rose" - the main crystal is nearly 10cm across.
